I delight in a "Christin-ism."

The scene: Christin is showing me her new 'Kool-aid' shirt and coloring book. From the kitchen, Mom says: "Girls, come and eat." to which Christin replies "Not home." She's so whitty.

Next, we're discussing various things over dinner. Christin chimes in "my friend is 'pek-nek'"--to which my Grandparents faces begin to look very confused while my Dad and I begin chuckling (knowing what she's intending to say). Dad says, "Oh she's going on a picnic?" Christin: "No Dad, 'pek-nek.'" Finally after going back and forth a few times, we clue my grandparents in...she's saying "pregnant." Then we all begin to laugh. Grandpa says, "Well pregnant, picnic, same thing right?" Maybe you had to be there but it was funny.

I delight in "Christin-isms."

christin trying on boots at payless. almost looks like an advertisement doesn't it!

I'm not sure I've ever shared a 'Christin-ism' on this site. If I have, its been a while since I've posted one. Christin--also known as LB, is my little sister and one of my favorite people in the whole world. She makes me laugh all the time! And so, here's the latest 'Christin-ism."

setting: I was sitting at the table, reading a research article. Christin came to sit on my knee (just one of the reasons I can't study at home--which is okay by me, he he). And so, here's the conversation that happened:

me: (reading silently to myself an article about Communication)
Christin: oh i know what that says...
me: oh really? what does it say?
Christin: C is for tosco, O is for tosco, M is for tosco, M is for tosco, U is for tosco, N is for tosco, I is for tosco, C is for tosco, A is for tosco, T is for tosco, I is for tosco, O is for tosco, N is for tosco.
me: oh Christin, you are so smark (our inside joke from another Christin-ism moment).
Christin: i know sis.

Now, you maybe confused. Let me explain. When she says 'tosco' she really means Costco. She saw the big C little o on my paper about Communication and recognized the first two letters of Costco! I thought it was hilarious. As I continued reading and turned the page, she found more 'communications' and did the whole 'is for tosco' routine over and over again. It was so adorable. I hope that is the message that has come across in this!

I haven't been delighting much lately but that's going to change. Delighting helps heal my heart from the crazy stress of graduate school. And so, delight with me! Share your delights in the comments! Let's delight together!

I delight in 10 simple things.

1. An alarm clock with a loud volume.
2. Blue fine point pens--I have an affinity for fine point pens.
3. Paper...so I can make never ending to-do lists.
4. A sister who loves me and makes me smile everyday.

7. A big brother who remembers my family history and shares my age.
8. Friends who make grad school entertaining.
9. Non-rainy days.
10. My electric blanket. Seriously...best invention ever...next to the panini maker.

I delight in 'the funny.'

This is 'a funny.'
It represents 'the funny' in life.

Lesson learned:
If you don't laugh, you might cry.
And who really wants to have a wet face?
-Just a thought from a girl trying to find joy (and funny) in the journey! :)

Happy Weekend!

I delight in laughter.

There were a lot of funny moments in my day today...
-driving back to Salt Lake after few hours of sleep
-trying to read when my eyes were closed
-waiting for a really late bus
-being terrified of the dog that was roaming around the bus stop
-having a library orientation by a man with major ute pride...i'm not sure i'll ever get used to it
-learning about 'the arc'
-riding home on the bus (public transportation= entertaining. always.)
-spending more hours at the hospital than anticipated and seeing WAY too many people i know.
-laughing at all the places i made wrong turns when i drove anywhere yesterday
-realizing that everything i learned in an entire semester back in 06 could be summarized in a 60 page chapter in my current textbook

The key to life at the moment: "if you don't laugh...you'll cry...so laugh and delight always."

Now for a message concerning my last post.
The question asked was concerning my last post on 'living in the now.' Let me clarify. I am in no way advocating the idea of "eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die (2 Nephi 28) by saying that we ought to live our best life now." All I'm trying to say is what President Monson once said (and of course, he said it better than I ever could
," The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it."
